Located in Fishers, Indiana, the company was founded in 1988. The flow cytometry division was founded as Flow Cytometry Standards Corporation in 1984, and was acquired by BLI in 2000. Bangs Laboratories manufactures and distributes a wide assortment of microspheres to biotechnological industries. Microspheres are used in medical diagnostics, molecular biology, high throughput screening, and as calibration standards. They are available as plain, dyed, fluorescent, protein-coated, magnetic, and silica, and in over 40 sizes. In total, over 2000 varieties can be custom made or found. The company maintains strong worldwide business through quality products and services, including the quarterly newsletter, Painless Particles, and free technical service.
