Founded in Germany in 1946, Schwarz Pharma AG is now an international specialty pharmaceutical company with sales in more than 70 countries. Historically, Schwarz Pharma AG products focused on the cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems. More recently, their product pipeline of innovative drugs has grown into the central nervous system and urology areas.
Schwarz Pharma AG expanded into the US market when it acquired Kremers Urban of Mequon, Wisconsin in 1986. Its next major acquisition was Central Pharmaceuticals of Seymour, Indiana in 1995. Additional product acquisitions took place through the years, continuing to increase the company’s US market presence.
Products are also acquired through collaborative partnerships with biotechnology companies and other research resources. Building a strong pipeline based on a plan of Global Search & Developmentä ensures the mid-size company’s constant growth.
One of three sites in the U. S., the 280,000 sq. ft. facility in Seymour, is the distribution center for all products to the US market. It also manufactures and packages many of the tablets and capsules sold by Schwarz Pharma. In addition to supplying products under the Schwarz Pharma label, products are also developed and produced for other pharmaceutical companies through the company’s established contract manufacturing business.
